How to get the most out of your Council meetings
- Familiarise yourself with the agenda so you are aware of decisions/projects to be discussed.
- Read all the papers and reports in advance of the meeting. (see Council Meetings)
- Ask fellow students their views on topics being discussed.
- Send questions to authors of papers or reports in advance.
- Take the opportunity to ask questions or express your support/opposition of a paper.
- Ask if you are unsure of any terms. The Union has a lot of acronyms. Where possible, we try not to use them but if you are unsure then ask. You can ask anyone, but the Council Chair and Officer Trustees are specifically here to support you in your role.
